Elphin Lodge

Elphin Lodge is situated on 13 hectares of land on Modderfontein Road between Edenvale Hospital and The South African Institute for Medical Research, with the Jukskei river on its eastern boundary. A footbridge links Elphin Lodge with Tarentaal Village, situated on the opposite side of the riverbank.

The Village is set in beautiful, secure surroundings featuring dams with extensive bird life, tranquil walks, spacious lawns and a swimming pool. It offers a total of 119 two bedroom cottages, 40 one bedroom and 64 two bedroom apartments - each with a lock-up garage no more than 30 metres from the cottage or apartment to which it is assigned. These units are available for purchase on a life rights basis to persons aged 65 years and over.

On-site frail care is available at The Ron Smith Care Centre. 

All cottages and apartments are north facing and the kitchens are fully equipped with ample cupboard space. Provision has been made for a dishwasher, washing machine, refrigerator/freezer. The units are carpeted, have telephone sockets and a connection to a central M-Net aerial.

Elphin Lodge Cottages

Each cottage consists of 2 bedrooms, kitchen, full bathroom with shower, separate toilet, lounge/dining room, patio and enclosed yard. Two sizes are available (93m² and 101m² excluding garage) and can be either south or north entry.

Elphin Lodge Apartments

Each apartment consists of 1 or 2 bedrooms, kitchen, full bathroom with shower, lounge/dining room and a patio or balcony. The two bedroomed units have a separate toilet. The 1 bedroom apartments are 76m² and the 2 bedroom ones 92m² excluding the covered patio or balcony and garage.

The levy also covers the cost of rates, water and electricity, insurance of buildings, external maintenance and administration costs.

 

Waiting list

Interested persons can place their names on the waiting list by paying a small refundable deposit. This deposit will also secure a place on the waiting list of any other Rand Aid facility, should this be requested.
